View Full Version : VR-Rendering

when iīm trying to render a vr in bunkspeed pro 2014 it always losses the connection to the background renderer, sometimes after 30%, sometimes after 70%. Iīve tried different quality settings for the orbits, images per orbit and resolution/renderquality. even in the lowest settings which would take abot half an hour i donīt get a final resolution. i had a beta-test version of 2014 pro on another computer and it worked well. So whatīs the problem? Iīm rendering in gpu mode only whith 4 cuda devices.

phoenix - What do you define as the lowest quality settings?

I'm thinking you may be running out of memory or virtual memory.

Yes in fact, since I'm using it, background renderer looks a little bit unstable. It works @ 90% of the time, but sometimes yes, there is a crash without reason.
To be honest, I've never understand the reason of the rendering with or without background.

And just a question, David, during an animation (or a group of images like a VR etc), the memory size used by the "rendering file" is changing/growing?
Thank you! ;)

hello david,
as i said: i ran vr-rendering before during the beta test on my daily working pc which is much slower than the pc iīm using for rendering only:

now after a while and the latest update of pro 2014 i tried the same file again for a quick vr rendering. this time it lost the connection to the background renderer at 25% at the first try. i instantly tried it again without changing anything and it worked thatīs funny.

This transformation is summarized in a transfer function that gives for each grey level a color and a transparency level. For instance, bones being the highest grey level in a CT, it is sufficient to put all voxels with a grey level under 230HU in full transparency, to put all voxels with a grey level beyond 400 HU with no transparency and to perform a progressive decrease of transparency between these two grey level values.
