Hi!
I use GTX 580 graphics card (3GB, 384 bit DDR5)
My friend uses the GTX 690. (4GB, 512-bit GDDR5)

We did our GPU tests on the example of the same file and with the same settings.

My graphics card GTX 580 rendered 11 minutes
Video card GTX 690 of my friend rendered 15 minutes.

We have the latest Nvidia drivers.
Why is my old video card is faster?
May be to increase the speed we need to install something else apart from the drivers?

Thanks

GTX 690 is based on Kepler technology while the GTX 580 is based on Fermi. Kepler currently is lagging behind in the rendering environment.

It turns out that the Fermi technology is more advanced?
That is for me, it makes no sense move to a new video card?

Read the other threads in this subforum, there is plenty of information there as to why Fermi is faster for BS than Kepler at the moment.

Please send a link where I could read about it in detail.

Thanks in advance

Thanks, Артем! I already found and read it.
I understand that iray technology is not currently able to support Kepler?

leex - Iray works just fine on Kepler. Its just not as fast as on Fermi. That all.

Thank you David!

This is temporary?
It is good that I did not buy the 690 now!! :D
When can I go on 690?

Again, our products work on the 690 just fine right now its just that the performance wont' be as fast as a 590 (which is Fermi based)
