Thread: HDRI Self-Creation idea in bunkspeed shot

Lightbulb HDRI Self-Creation idea in bunkspeed shot

    How about this idea?

    1) Create project and scene with some models and lights outside Chrome-Sphere.
    2) Render Chrome-Sphere finely (it may be slow ,but only once) in Bunkspeed Shot.
    3) Save Chrome-Sphere Image to HDRI Format
    4) Use this calcurated Image as HDRI in Bunkspeed Shot. ( it would be very fast for every use this image)

    Thank you.

If Bunkspeed asks nicely, nVidia might build them a special camera to help speed this up.
Mental Images has a LatLong Lens shader for Mental Ray. I'm sure they could apply the same math to a camera in iRay fairly easily.

This way, your GI calculations are simpler, you render directly to a useable image instead of having to convert it from spherical to latitude longitude, and your render time is much faster. All you have to do is position the special spherical camera to the center of what will be your sphere, and render to a 32bit image.

We have a raster based "HDRI maker" camera already...its just not exposed yet.
